Working with fibre can leads me everywhere. I love the fact that its manipulation gives me infinite possibility of expression. I allow memories, experiences, associations and emotions take over as I build and create. My work is often inspired by the repetition seen in the patterns that surround us, natural and man made. Lately, my focus has been on combining unusual printing techniques with three dimensional textile constructions to contain elements of both the familiar and the unexpected. The experimentation and the results, and the versatility of the processes are very satisfying.
Textiles carry with them so much potential for communication. We are exposed to them from the moment we are born, so it is little wonder that work created through the use of textiles can provoke strong emotional responses in us. I hope that my work will appeal to each viewer to consider textiles in new ways.
