ARTIST STATEMENT

I have been exploring fibre for 30 years, Felting has become my passion and I have taken numerous felting courses from highly skilled local and international instructors. I am especially drawn to courses that develop my wearable art repertoire and have experience in making garments such as dresses, coats and footwear.

My initial introduction to fibre was through hand knitting followed by hand spinning, sock machine knitting with an interest in vintage sock machines, dyeing and eco printing. I now enjoy combining my skills with felting to create unique handmade garments.

Whilst the organic unexpected nature of eco printing excites and fascinates me, I love exploring colour and choosing a colour palette in my felt making that can be from subtle to vibrant. Taking fibre without form and creating a finished piece with form and function constantly engages me and there is no end to what I feel I can create as I explore this medium further.
