Julie Baratta

BIOGRAPHY

Julie Baratta is a Calgary based textile artist and graduate of the Alberta College of Art + Design (Fibre), whose work explores the authentic and reproduction through pattern and hand printed textiles.

Her decorative works use pattern to create objects and spaces that explore the relationships between viewer and space, authentic and reproduced, while blurring the boundaries of obsessive decoration. She creates hand silk-screened textiles that are unique, innovative and provocative, at the same time, preserving the hand of the artist.
